To get your brand listed, apply through each platform’s own seller channel: Blinkit’s Seller Hub, Zepto’s brand portal and Swiggy Instamart’s partner page. Have your GST and PAN details, bank account, proof that you own or may sell the brand, and an FSSAI licence or registration if you sell food ready before you start, then make sure your catalogue is live and stocked in the cities you plan to target before you spend on your first ad.
What do you need before you apply?
Most of the paperwork is the same across platforms. Gather it once:
| Document | Why you need it |
|---|---|
| GST registration | Blinkit asks for a GST certificate and Zepto for a GSTIN certificate |
| PAN | Zepto asks for your PAN card, and PAN is mandatory for registration with GST |
| Bank details | Blinkit asks for bank account details; Zepto for a cancelled cheque |
| Brand proof | Zepto asks for an original trademark certificate or an authorisation letter/NOC from the brand owner; Blinkit for your brand name, manufacturer details and logo |
| FSSAI licence or registration | Blinkit lists an FSSAI licence “where applicable” |
If you sell food, FSSAI is not optional. Under the Food Safety and Standards Act, “every Food Business Operator in the country is required to be licensed” under FSSAI. The simpler basic registration is meant for small operators, including businesses with an annual turnover up to ₹12 lakh; above that you need a licence. Check which applies to you on the FSSAI site before you apply anywhere.
How do you sell on Blinkit?
Blinkit runs onboarding through its Seller Hub in three steps: “Register on Seller Hub”, create your product listing, then ship to Blinkit and start selling. It says you can start selling in as little as 7 days.
The model is inventory-led. You send inventory to Blinkit’s warehouses based on its recommendations, and Blinkit replenishes it across its dark stores. You then complete your listings and launch them in your preferred city.
A few terms are worth knowing up front:
- One registration, many cities. Blinkit says you can start selling in 300+ cities with a single GST and bank account.
- Payouts. Earnings for delivered orders arrive automatically every 15 days. Blinkit says payouts are processed on the 3rd working day following each payout cycle (1st–15th and 16th–end of the month).
- Fees. Blinkit’s fees include an inwarding fee, storage fee, fulfilment fee and a category commission that varies with the product’s category and pricing. They also include a Product ID activation fee, credited to your ads wallet to run sponsored ads, and customer return and inventory removal fees where applicable. Exact rates show after you log in, so ask for them before you commit volumes.
How do you sell on Zepto?
Zepto onboards brands through its brand portal, and it selects them. Brands that meet Zepto’s defined selection criteria can be onboarded within 15 business days, which Zepto says may stretch to 45 days during major sale events.
The document list is specific: Zepto asks for your PAN card, GSTIN certificate, a cancelled cheque, an authorised signatory’s signature copy, and an original trademark certificate or an authorisation letter/NOC on the brand owner’s letterhead. If you sell another company’s brand, get that authorisation letter before you apply.
On pricing, Zepto tells brands: “You set the prices.”
How do you sell on Swiggy Instamart?
Instamart’s route is its partner page, which invites brands to “Onboard your brand. Become a seller” and links to an application.
Instamart is less specific about timing than the others. Its onboarding FAQ says the duration is tailored to each product and brand, depending on how closely they meet its onboarding guidelines. Two other answers in the same FAQ matter for planning:
- Data. Instamart says it provides detailed day-level sales data.
- Growth. Expansion into new cities or extra SKUs is evaluated based on the performance of existing products. Your first listings decide how fast you grow there.
How do the three platforms compare?
| Blinkit | Zepto | Swiggy Instamart | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where to apply | Seller Hub | Brand portal | Partner page |
| How long it takes | As little as 7 days, Blinkit says | Within 15 business days for brands that qualify, up to 45 in sale periods | Depends on the product and brand |
| What decides it | Your documents and listings | Zepto’s selection criteria | Instamart’s onboarding guidelines |
| How you grow | Launch city by city; Blinkit restocks dark stores from its warehouses | Not stated on Zepto’s brand page | New cities and SKUs follow the performance of your first listings |
If you plan to sell on all three, start the applications together: the timelines differ, and the slowest one sets your launch date across platforms.
What should you set up before your first ad?
Listing is the start. Before you spend on ads, set up four things.
- A live catalogue. On Blinkit, any brand whose catalogue is live can advertise: “If your catalogue is live, you can run campaigns.” Make sure every SKU you plan to promote is listed and active.
- Stock where you’ll advertise. Quick commerce sells from dark stores, city by city. An ad in a city where your product isn’t stocked can’t turn into an order. Line up your first campaigns with the cities where your inventory has landed; our guide to dark store optimization covers the stock side.
- Prices and content. Set the prices you want to compete at, and check titles, images and pack sizes before traffic arrives.
- A first campaign type. Search is where most budgets start. Zepto’s engineering team writes that “A large portion of ad budgets flows into search ads (aka sponsored search) because search signals strong purchase intent.” On Blinkit, Brand Central has no fixed minimum spend: you set a daily budget and bids, and pay for clicks or impressions depending on the format.
Start small, read the results, and grow the platforms and cities that sell. Our guide to quick commerce marketplace strategy covers how the platforms differ once you’re live.
How does ShelfRadar help once you’re listed?
ShelfRadar works with Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart and Flipkart Minutes. Once your products are live and advertised, its agents run bid-budget experiments and turn the results into an optimization plan, and you can track category share, availability, visibility and promos. Dashboards are self-serve; every ad change is approved by a person before it goes live.
